Today we’re looking at this. This is a travel adapter for Australia to Japan, US, and China. Here we have a Type A plug with an Australian socket. We also get two USB-A and two USB-C ports, and there are the specs for the USB input and output. We’ll open it up — inside we have the adapter and the manual.

I really like that it has this warning on here that says it does not convert voltage. You need to check that your device supports 100 to 250 volts, 50/60 Hz. If you plug something in that is rated for 240/250 only, you’re going to have a bad time, so make sure you check all the devices before you plug them in. Any AC devices should match the local power voltage. Here we have my wall charger, and you can see right here it clearly states 110–240 volts, 50/60 Hz, meaning this will work perfectly fine with this adapter.

We’ll peel this off. You can see it has the standard Australian outlet and support for a ground. But if you look on the back, there is no ground. A lot of Japanese hotels and things simply lack ground pins. That being said, if you were to travel to the United States, ground pins are a lot more common, so you might consider picking up something with ground pins if you’re going to the US. But this is perfect for Japan simply because you’ll often not find any ground pins there. That’s this adapter, and I guess the only thing left to do is go to Japan.

So let’s book a ticket and go to Japan and test this out. Okay, so now we’re in Tokyo and here is the charger. It’s plugged in — I have an extension cord over there — and it works great. You can see the Japanese plugs kind of look like this. You might find some with ground plugs, but not always. You’ll see these most of the time. If we unplug it, that’s what the wall socket looks like.

It works great. If you’re interested in picking one up, click one of my affiliate links in the description below. Thank you very much for watching and I’ll see you next time. Bye.
